Are you living your best life?

One of the key observations I had while working behind the bar last year was the emptiness behind the eyes of many of the people who ventured out to a gig.

Most people arrived for the opportunity to go out, be with friends and drink. Celebration was important, and their happiness seemed dependent on how many drinks they consumed.

The more they drank, the wider their hearts opened and the more they relaxed into the evening.

I noticed this with many people who depended on external sources to feel joy.

Many people would say, ‘it’s the weekend, you only live once’. Yet, they would go back to their boring jobs, the people they didn’t want to be with, and repeat the same pattern.

I used to talk to many people when I could, and ask them about their lives and what brought them joy. Not many people could answer, because their hearts were closed and they didn’t really know. They were existing rather than living and being.

Some people say money buys you happiness, but does it?

Half-lived lives.

Happiness and joy are the birthright of each human, yet they only live half-lives. It’s almost as though a huge part of them is missing.

And it usually is. You see many people exist through their patterns, conditioning, labels and identities which tie them to an image they consciously or unconsciously portray.

Women do this often and hide behind masks.

But this is fake. What’s the fun in a half-lived life, when there is a whole new life waiting to be experienced and explored?

The heaviness of people's half-lived lives limits joy and can limit the quality of life for future generations.

Do we remember joy?

Joy is who we are. We can see this in the eyes of young children who live in timeless wonder.

It’s so beautiful and is uplifting.

Imagine if adults could feel joy by simply being who they are? What if this were possible?

Can you imagine how liberating and fulfilling this would be for others?

Most humans have forgotten who they are.

I found myself lost in the identities that portrayed the image of who I was supposed to be. Outwardly, I smiled and wore the 'I'm ok' mask, but inwardly, I was incredibly unhappy.

I didn't want to carry the heaviness and sadness of feeling unfulfilled or unhappy. Neither did I want to project this onto my boy. I went within.

He is a great mirror to me, and I remembered joy. Joy is uplifting for everyone, and while I gently realigned, I would find moments of pleasure by being me.

Alignment.

Like you, I wasn’t born to live a mediocre life, and I took huge leaps of faith to honour my joy.

Yes, they came at a price, but I wouldn’t have experienced half of the wonderment I experienced by staying true to myself.

See, when we’re aligned, life just happens. Materialising our dreams is quite normal, and we find that we attract the right opportunities and people as if by magic, which expands our quality of life.

Imagine that!

This isn’t a fantasy – this is a reality.

One of my clients came to me heavy with depression, her health was compromised, and she could not access joy, because she was hidden underneath the patterning and conditions she was born into. At times, she could not even get her words out as her voice had been suppressed for so long.

But after a few sessions, she felt lighter; she was retraining in an aligned profession, and remembered the joy of music and dance. When I last spoke with her, she revelled in the gigs she had enjoyed, and some she had travelled across the world to see.

An inner knowing that there is more to life.

She didn’t want to live a prescribed life. She wanted to know what it felt like to be free to be herself and aligned with what brought her joy.

This is rewarding for me to witness, because she now touches the lives of the people around her with her joy, and we know joy is infectious.

We weren’t born to live mediocre lives; we were born to thrive and experience the fullness of joy by simply being who we are.

Can you imagine how beautiful the world would be with more joy?

I can, and I dream of this for all beings.

When we embody joy, the universe responds to our desires because joy creates more joy.
